The graphic on the front cover was created by two Ohio Wesleyan students who graduated in 1993. Ram Samudrala was a double major in Computer Science and Genetics and is now in the Ph.D. program in Computational Biology at the Center for Advanced Research in Biotechnology. Shriram Krishnamurthi was a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics and is now in the Ph.D. program in Computer Science at Rice University. The picture was designed, executed and produced using resources at Ohio Wesleyan. It depicts the brilliant Indian mathematician Ramanujan who discovered many amazing formulae in the early twentieth century. He was fascinated by the number (pi), one of the central constants of the mathematical universe. Various methods of computing are indicated in the background of the picture. More history on the picture, as well as a larger version of the image, can be found here. ![]() |
